Adults 18 years of age and older must present the following identification:

  1. A photo ID (current Illinois Driver’s License or State ID)

    And
  2. one of the following showing your name and Elmwood Park address:
  • A current utility bill
  • phone bill
  • mortgage payment book
  • or paycheck (with name, address, and date)

If the photo ID does not show an Elmwood Park address, then 2 current pieces of ID plus the photo ID is required.

Children under the age of 18 must have the parent or legal guardian who resides in Elmwood Park sign for a card. The child must be present with the adult and the adult needs to show the same identification as listed above. If the childs’ last name is not the same as the parent, then a birth certificate or other official document must be shown that links the parent to the child.

There is NO charge for a library card for Elmwood Park residents. Replacement cards cost $3.00.

Elmwood Park Library cards are valid for three years. They may be used at any MLS library.

If you live in Chicago , you may apply for a Reciprocal Card for no charge. These cards are valid for one year and may be used or renewed at any MLS library. You must present your valid Chicago library card and photo ID to apply.

The Elmwood Park Public Library reserves the right to refuse to issue a library card to patrons who do not meet the identification requirements and/or those who have delinquent accounts at other libraries

Library cards (new or renewals) are issued from opening until one half hour before closing.
