Friends of the Elmwood Park Library

Who are the Friends? We are a group of local folks just like you, who care about helping our community’s library continue to be the outstanding resource for the residents of Elmwood Park and their children.

Officers:

  • Jim Ashby, President
  • Linda Funk, Vice President
  • Angie Johnson, Secretary
  • Carol Zagorski, Treasurer

Appointed:

  • Janet Jackson, Membership Correspondent
  • S.K. Narayan, Advertising
  • Marian Ashby, Welfare

How long have the Friends been around? There has been a group of residents involved as volunteers about as long as there has been a library in Elmwood Park.

What do the Friends do? Our primary purpose is to raise money to enhance library programs and resources. Since 2002 we have raised close to $8,000 through membership fees and used book sales held twice a year. These sales are held in June and December. Book donations are made by our local community and the volunteers help to sort and setup the sales.

Where does the money go? 100% of our proceeds go towards supplementing children’s programs, equipment purchases that are not within the annual library budget, and sponsoring of adult programs.

What does becoming a member mean? Most of our Friends simply support us by making a $5 donation yearly. Some members choose to be active volunteers attend our monthly meetings held the 2 nd Monday of every month. This membership payment allows you free entry into our Summer Book Sale preview night and gives you discounts for our adult program events.

How do I become a Friend of the Library?
Just print out the Membership Form and mail it in with your $5 donation or come to one of our monthly meetings held the 2 nd Monday of every month! If you have any questions please feel free to contact us or call the library for more information at 708.453.7645.
